Female statuette (kore)
Sculpture
Magna-Graecia original from the first half of the 5th century B.C.
Parian marble
The small female figure is wearing a long chiton and a himation (mantle) arranged diagonally over it. Her head is compact; her hair is kept in place over her forehead by a ribbon, while long locks fall over her shoulders. The statuette’s typological and stylistic features suggest that it was made in Magna Graecia at the beginning of the 5th century B.C.
