The limestone statuette of Heracles- Melqart, from the early 5th century B.C., is a sign of the religious and cultural contamination that occurred on the island of Cyprus between oriental gods (Melqart was worshipped in the Phoenician world) and figures from Greek mythology, such as Heracles.
